This is a silver Infantry Assault Badge from the firm of Fritz Zimmerman. It is heavily vaulted from top to bottom. It is zinc based with a bright silver wash, probably dipped, as the color is applied front and back, including the hinge, pin and catch assembly.

Late war one peice silver Infantry Assault Badge with cast in hinge and catch. This badge is marked "4" behind the swastika and may be possibly attributed to Steinhauer and Luck, but versions of this also exsist with a number "3", so that theory is inconclusive. Notice circular ejecter pad marks, from releasing it from the die.
